Amazon has launched an online pharmacy in India, by delivering medicinal products in India. Amazon Pharmacy will first start its deliveries in Bangalore and it will be soon expanded in other Indian cities as well. Amazon jumps into online pharmacy drugs the market as there has been a major increase in the sales of medicine on the cause of the pandemic.
Many
international companies have invested billions of dollars in the Indian market.
The Amazon Pharmacy service offers prescription, over-the-counter, and
traditional Ayurveda medication as well as basic health devices. “This is
particularly relevant in present times as it will help customers meet their
essential needs while staying safe at home," an Amazon executive said.
Amazon
started thinking of entering into the pharmaceutical deliveries in 2017. Amazon
launched a US-based home delivery medication startup PillPack after 2017. At the
end of 2019, PillPack's service was changed to the name of Amazon pharmacy. In
January, Amazon filed the name Amazon Pharmacy in the UK, Australia, and Canada.
Earlier
this year, Jeff Bezos promised to make major investments in India. He said the
21st Century is "going to be the Indian century".In May, Amazon entered
the food delivery business in India with a trial in four parts of Banglore.
